Person-Centred and Integrative Counselling, Brief Therapy
About Counselling
We all go through tough times. You may be feeling stressed, anxious, sad or irritable. Perhaps you are facing challenges in your current life – or it might be something from the past which is bothering you. Whatever the problem, it’s likely that talking to a professional counsellor will help.
During counselling I offer a special kind of listening space to people. My primary approach is person-centred – based on the belief that everyone has unique potential for growth and self-healing. This includes you!
My role as a counsellor is mainly to understand, value and be honest with my clients. I also sometimes draw on ideas from other counselling approaches, where these would be helpful to the client. I won’t wave a magic wand over your life, but I will help you find your own answers.
Benefits of Counselling
These vary for each person, but often include things like:
• Insight into the cause of problems
• Improved self-acceptance
• Awareness of options for change
• Better decision-making
• Greater confidence
• New ways to manage emotions
• More harmonious relationships
• Enhanced relaxation and wellbeing
About Me
My first encounter with counselling was in 1991, as a client. It was so helpful that I eventually decided to train as a counsellor myself.
I have worked as a counsellor in several settings: for a national bereavement charity, for the NHS, for a generic therapy centre, and for a commercial firm providing workplace counselling.
Here are some of the issues I have experience of helping people with:
• Anger-management
• Anxiety
• Assertiveness
• Bereavement, loss and change
• Bullying
• Childhood issues
• Confidence/Self-esteem
• Depression
• Family and parenting problems
• Health issues
• Redundancy
• Relationships, including separation and divorce
• Relaxation
• Stress-management
• Suicidal feelings
• Work problems
• Women’s issues.
You may like to check my website www.susangullycounselling.co.uk for further details of my service. I am also happy to answer any enquiries, either by phone on 07581 325846 (confidential voicemail available) or by email, to susangully@googlemail.com. In addition, I can offer a free initial 30 minute consultation meeting to anyone who would find this useful.
