David qualified as a mental health nurse with a diploma in 1995 and has since worked in a variety of mental health setting, most notably in general hospital settings since 2001. He has been practicing CBT for a number of years and completed his MSc in CBT at the University of Birmingham in 2002 and is now a BABCP (British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists) and UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) accredited psychotherapist.
He currently works for Cardiff and Vale NHS trust as a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist for the Liaison Psychiatry and Traumatic Stress Service and part time with the South Wales Fire & Rescue Service. As part of his current role he provides clinical CBT supervision to a range of different mental health professionals. He is also a visiting lecturer at the University of West for England and the ‘Copewell Institute’. His areas of special interest include Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, psychological problems related to physical illness, chronic pain and health anxiety.
